Rumors are now spinning around Apple's plans for a foldable M5 MacBook and a new Vision Pro device coming by 2026, touting massive changes for both devices coming in less than two years.
There were previous talks about a foldable MacBook that would no longer have its keyboards and would be replaced with an entire touchscreen display from top to bottom.
On the other hand, the Vision Pro is still a young device, with version two not yet in the books for Apple anytime soon, but the latest spill says it is coming real soon.
Kuo: Apple Planning a Foldable M5 MacBook
Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most prolific Apple analysts, shared massive details and rumors behind a foldable M5 MacBook that will be available by 2026, offering a new age for the computer.
First, the M5 MacBook would have multiple foldable screen options, including the 20.3-inch and 18.8-inch sizes when fully opened. The 20.3-inch would be the same size as the 14- —to 15-inch MacBooks now available.
On the other hand, the 18.8-inch size would resemble the more compact 13 to 14-inch MacBook Air.
This release would feature the first iteration of the M5 chip, its fifth mainline release in the series.
Lastly, Apple wants to make it crease-free, creating a seamless display that would not bother users.
Vision Pro Price for the M5 MacBook?
However, the crease-free development would already cost Apple around $600 to $650 for the 20.3-inch variant and $200 to $250 for the 18.8-inch display.
These massive costs for the foldable MacBook's components may mean it will be more expensive, but it could be the same price as the Vision Pro, which costs $3,500.
Apple Foldable and Wearable
Apple is not massive on foldables now, but certain rumors claim it is not closed for this technology in the future, especially with significant speculations behind a foldable iPhone development, in the works.
However, it is not only that, as Apple is also allegedly working on a 20-inch foldable MacBook, according to its rival Samsung, and it previously said that it is working with LG for this project.
It was initially believed to be a folding display for the iPad that would expand more of the tablet's widescreen, but there is uncertainty behind it.
Shortly after the Apple Vision Pro's release in February 2024, there were already massive speculations about the device's future based on Cupertino's developments.
It was reported that it would take Apple four Vision Pro releases in the future before the headset reaches its "ideal form," claiming that the first one is not yet the targeted goal for the XR wearable.
The one sure thing about Apple's tech development is there are many uncertainties behind its work as it is secretive, but analysts like Kuo share massive speculations and rumors, including the possible foldable M5 MacBooks and a new Vision Pro coming this 2026.
