Hades II Officially Available for PC Gamers with Early Access

Console gamers will have to wait in the meantime.

Hades II has officially dropped early for PC gamers as the game is now available on Steam and Epic Store for 30$ on early access. Console gamers will still have to wait as a confirmed release date for the game has yet to be revealed.

The business estimates that the early access phase will run at least until the end of 2024. According to the game's developers, the price may go up later, depending on how long early access is granted and whether or not more features are added.

Supergiant Games does not now have an early access expiration date, but the developer intends to provide a major update with fresh content and features every few months. Later this year, the first update is expected to be released.

Supergiant said on its Steam page that Hades II includes more landscapes, fully voiced characters, and more adversaries than the original Hades game did in early access.

However, they also underlined how much work still needs to be done on the game and how crucial locales, characters, adversaries, narrative events, and systems are still missing.

Incomplete Hades II

Considering that Hades II has been in development for three years, gamers can reach a point in the game where it becomes clear that the story has ended. Ongoing projects include a range of iconography, user interfaces, and character designs.

Hades II builds on the ideas and mechanics of the well-received 2020 original. Melinoë, the sister of Zagreus, the game's initial protagonist, is the new protagonist in this chapter.

According to Creative Director Greg Kasavin and Studio Director Amir Rao, neither playing the original game nor having a strong background in Greek mythology is necessary to appreciate it. Sources indicate, however, that the creative team did continue to include "delightful references" for the knowledgeable.

The main plot point of the sequel is a confrontation with a time-traveling rapscallion. Supergiant describes the premise of the game, in which the evil father of Hades and his siblings, Titan of Time Chronos, has broken free from his captivity in the Underworld to launch an assault on Olympus.

The game's developers stated last year that they intended for Hades II's early access period to include as much material as the first did when it was released in beta in 2018.

The studio had previously said that although early access implies a game is not finished, they still wanted to make sure Hades II was worth playing as soon as it became available to users.

Hades' Early Access History

Supergiant Games created the roguelike action RPG dungeon crawler Hades, which was made available for PC and consoles. Like Hades II, the game was first released in early access in December 2018.

Still, a lot of content has long since led casual fans to forget that it wasn't officially released until the makers released the official 1.0 version in September 2020.

The addition of the actual ending, which indicates numerous endings that players can obtain, is reportedly the only noticeable difference between the early access and complete version of the game.
