Tekken 8 Battle Pass Faces Backlash, Fans Call Bandai Namco ‘Greedy’

Fans are not happy about Tekken 8's Battle Pass.

Initially, Tekken 8 was a successful game, but the latest confirmation of Bandai Namco bringing a Battle Pass to the game is now enraging gamers, with this decision facing backlash from the community.

Fans have now taken their complaints to game distribution platforms and put in new reviews for the game, and some taking it to social media to voice out their complaints against this.

With this move, Bandai Namco is now being called 'greedy' for their paid Battle Pass experience to get new content for the high-grossing arcade fighting game.

Tekken 8 Battle Pass Faces Backlash from Fans

Earlier this April, Tekken 8 and Bandai Namco introduced a dedicated Battle Pass for the game, which was made available starting this month and will only be available until May 31.

This is called the TEKKEN FIGHT PASS, with the company redirecting gamers to check out its details in-game but facing massive backlash from fans and gamers for this paid addition.

Battle Passes are known for asking for a specific fee from gamers to pay for an entire season, where exclusive rewards are available to unlock as they progress. It is best known for free-to-play titles like Warzone 2.0, Fortnite, and more.

Fans and gamers of Tekken 8 were not happy about this announcement, calling Bandai Namco "lazy" and airing out their issues about the additional cosmetics and accessories options.

Bandai Namco is 'Greedy' for Tekken Battle Pass

However, it got worse when viewing the game's review on Steam, as gamers did not hold back against Bandai Namco for Tekken 8's FIGHT PASS, going as far as calling the developers 'greedy.'

The game is known for selling at a premium price of $69.99, and fans regard that there was an initial $30 Season Pass and now the Fight Pass, which has the Premium Pass tier for $6 and the Premium Pass Plus for $20.

Tekken 8 and Bandai Namco's Development

Earlier this year, Tekken 8 was released to the world after nine years since Tekken 7 arrived in 2015. Gamers had almost a decade to wait for the next installment of the famed fighting franchise. This offered significant enhancements to the franchise since the last release, with Bandai Namco promising massive fighting improvements and a more in-depth dive into the characters' stories.

Right at the game's release, Tekken 8 already had a DLC, which was leaked by insiders and analysts who could get their hands on the list.

This teased the expected fighters who will join the latest installment of the game, with the first one being Lidia, a character who previously appeared on Tekken 7 as a DLC; Craig Marduk, a recurring character in the series; and Fahkumram, a Thailander Muay Thai fighter.

It is known that DLCs are not free, and they do not come cheap, especially as the game is newly released, with Bandai Namco already charging players for the sub-$ $70 game.

The new Fight Pass, a.k.a. the Battle Pass, is not a welcome addition for gamers, with Bandai Namco receiving backlash for new fees to ask gamers to receive in-game rewards and unlocking more from Tekken 8.
