The toxic side of gaming has manifested itself again, and this time, in the fanbase of Tekken 8, experienced firsthand by its director, Katsuhiro Harada, who was recently threatened. This was due to a player requesting that a specific old character from the series make an appearance in the new game, but it seems like this trick will not work for the developer.
While the game creators understand the demand for certain favorite characters, they cannot be all accommodated during this time, but making such remarks is not acceptable.
Tekken 8 Not Bothered by Threats from Gamers' Character Requests
In a lengthy post by Tekken 8 Director, Katsuhiro Harada, he explained how threats against themselves and the game are taken largely, but it remains unbothered by the threats imposed by users. In Harada's long-form post, he explains that such threats are significant causes of delays and rising costs for games, as security is then added to protect developers.
This was after Harada received a post via X that talked about the user wanting to see Eddy Gordo, the Capoeira master from the previous iterations of the game. Here, the user included violent remarks directed to Harada, saying that they will hit the director with a "burning hammer."
Harada Says Threats Will Not Bring Them to Tekken 8
Despite the grave threat, the post still detailed that no such threats will persuade developers into bringing these requested characters to the game.
In the director's words, "By enthusiasts behaving excessively, repeating these words and actions, or Fake information and hoaxes, or Threats, the motivation of the development staff will decrease rapidly, and as a result, the requests of enthusiasts will be far from being realized."
Harada is known to engage with fans regarding Tekken 8 and character developments, listening to their requests and who they want to see in the game.
