Intel CES 2024: Pat Gelsinger Emphasizes AI PCs Coming This Year, Local Data Gets New Power

Intel's AI innovation for PC sets up its future in tech.

Intel started the year right with its latest showcase at CES 2024, emphasizing taking "AI everywhere" with its latest product that the world will soon see focusing on AI PCs. Instead of relying on the cloud and online servers to deliver AI capabilities and features to their local devices, the computer itself and other forms of mobile tech will get the machine learning power.

The Intel CEO's latest keynote at CES 2024 highlights the goal of Intel this 2024, offering the world's first and leading AI PC experiences for all users.

Through this initiative, Pat Gelsinger looks to expand more of Intel and the company and would not be limited to the previous focus that kept it on hardware only.

In a question and answer discussion, Gelsinger said that AI's arrival for local PCs will have the WiFi adoption experience, calling it the "Centrino moment," based on Intel's hardware package that made wireless internet connection possible. However, while it may not get the attention or interest at first, it will grow on users with the many features coming soon, like neural capabilities, changing the local PC experience.

Local Treatment for AI and User Data: Intel's Goal

AI PCs will bring a local treatment for the machine learning power and user data on their respective devices. This has been the goal of Intel since it introduced this idea, with Gelsinger saying that the company has worked on it for as much as one year already, being pioneers in this localization.

It was regarded by the Intel CEO that AI PCs would solve the need to have massive servers to deliver the experience, use local data stored on one's personal computer, and get a more intuitive experience that focuses on their needs rather than a generalized approach for AI.

Gelsinger also stated that despite the upcoming AI regulations, he is optimistic about Intel's products and how they would play out amidst the restrictions or guidelines for their future. He also predicts that AI will create a new economic value and use cases for its adoption to local PCs.

This is a cost-effective approach as it keeps AI locally, with the Intel CEO claiming there would be a more than 10-year cycle for its application in different industries.

AI Everywhere: Intel's Promise this 2024

One of the most significant developments from Intel is its integration of AIs into its chips, with one of the earliest applications coming to Microsoft's Surface laptops releasing soon to bring AI everywhere.

Throughout 2023, it has emphasized the importance of hardware-based AI technology rather than the renowned cloud-based availability of renowned services now.

Going against the tide that OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and more have gone in putting AI in the cloud, Intel's goal of localizing the tech looks to bring it closer to users than ever before.

Gelsinger highlighted the massive importance of AI on PCs - being more cost-effective and personalized to users and reducing massive servers to operate AI, with its hardware, including CPUs and GPUs, capable of running experiences for a user's specific needs.
