T-Mobile is revamping its top-tier Go5G Next plan to entice subscribers with a stacked streaming service package.
Starting January 24, the carrier announced the addition of Hulu (with ads) to its Go5G Next lineup, expanding the existing benefits that already include Netflix, Apple TV+, and MLB.TV.
What's in the New Deal?
The announcement tells us that for a fixed $100 per month, users on the Go5G Next plan will enjoy an unparalleled suite of offerings. This includes unlimited data, monthly 50GB of high-speed mobile hotspot data, and an enticing option for yearly smartphone upgrades.
Now, with the inclusion of Hulu, subscribers can indulge in a quartet of streaming platforms, creating a comprehensive entertainment hub within their mobile plan.
According to T-Mobile, this enhanced bundle amounts to around $400 in annual savings, an impressive value proposition in today's competitive wireless market.
The addition of Hulu, priced at $7.99 a month for the ad-supported version, complements the existing Netflix subscription and Apple TV+ access, providing a diverse range of content for users, from exclusive shows to thousands of movies.
The Best from T-Mobile
T-Mobile's move solidifies its position as a leader in offering substantial value within 5G plans. Phone Arena notes that despite recent controversies involving security issues and upgrading policies, the "Un-carrier" continues to innovate, pulling ahead of rivals like Verizon and AT&T in bundling premium services with their plans.
However, accessing Hulu on T-Mobile's Go5G Next plan comes with specifics. This feature is exclusive to the top-tier plan, meaning subscribers must be on this package to unlock Hulu's streaming goodness.
While this may restrict access for some existing subscribers on different plans, it amplifies the allure of the Go5G Next package.
The plan's $100 monthly fee covers taxes and fees, making it a transparent and predictable cost for users. It is important to note that, unlike competitors, T-Mobile requires all lines within an account to be on the same plan, limiting mix-and-match options but ensuring simplicity in billing.
Moreover, while subscribers can revel in the exciting addition of Hulu, it remains to be seen if T-Mobile will allow users to upgrade their Hulu plans within the carrier's service bundle.
There is speculation regarding the possibility of stepping up to an ad-free Hulu plan or one of Disney's bundled services encompassing Hulu, Disney Plus, and ESPN Plus.
CNET points out that this initiative by T-Mobile echoes the trend of blending streaming services with wireless plans, akin to Verizon's longstanding practice of bundling the Disney Bundle with its premium unlimited plans.
Last month, Verizon introduced discounts on streaming services for users of its latest unlimited plans, further intensifying the competition in this space.
