Advanced Data Security: Cutting-edge tools set to offer clients greater data protection
Planned Release: The latest Veeam Data Platform 23H2 update is to be launched later in the year
Veeam Software, the industry leader in data protection and ransomware recovery, proudly announced the New Veeam Data Platform 23H2 update, packed with advanced security capabilities and malware detection features. Revealed during the global VeeamON Resiliency Summit, the update includes a raft of new tools engineered to keep businesses running amid a heightened threat of ransomware attacks and cybercrime.
At its core, the Veeam Data Platform 23H2 update is built upon the pillars of data security, data recovery, and data freedom.
Embracing Radical Resilience
With 93% of ransomware attacks targeting backups and 75% of those attacks being partially successful, Veeam understands the importance of a robust cybersecurity strategy. A reliable, protected backup accessible anytime and anywhere is crucial to ensuring swift incident recovery.
"The Veeam Data Platform 23H2 Update enables radical resilience—to not just bounce back from an outage or data loss, but to bounce forward," says Danny Allan, CTO at Veeam. "By providing the shortest gap between incident and recovery, our customers can keep their businesses running, growing, and moving ahead."
Revolutionizing Data Security
The Veeam Data Platform 23H2 update showcases fresh security features and ransomware safeguards for Veeam Backup & ReplicationTM, Veeam Recovery Orchestrator, and Veeam ONETM. These include advanced data security, automated recovery, hybrid cloud capabilities, and malware detection.
At the heart of this update is Veeam Backup & Replication v12.1, which now incorporates proactive threat hunting for backup integration with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms, alongside YARA rules to keep an eye out for ransomware patterns.
Furthermore, v12.1 offers valuable guides to incorporate NIST cybersecurity best practices into your operation. This can empower businesses with the know-how to calibrate their cybersecurity efforts and put up a formidable defense against ransomware threats.
The update also includes:
Threat Recognition: An AI-enabled Malware Detection tool conducts in-depth entropy and file extension analysis, providing real-time insights during the backup process.
Simplified Incident Management: The Veeam Incident API integrates seamlessly with SIEM systems, allowing you to report infections promptly, flag infected restore points, or initiate urgent backups.
Rapid Ransomware Recoil: Leveraging the I/O Anomaly Visualizer and Veeam's Continuous Data Protection (CDP), organizations can now roll back to the instant just before a ransomware infection, thus ensuring minimized data loss.
YARA Content Scrutiny: Simplify your recovery by leveraging the YARA content analysis that helps dodge reinfection by utilizing malware-free restore points.
Strong and Regulatory Compliant Data Protection: The Veeam Threat Center showcases threats, highlights risks, and provides a comprehensive security score for your environment. Paired with the Security & Compliance Analyzer, it ensures recovery success via comprehensive automated checks.
Expanded Immutability Support: Prevent accidental or malicious deletion or encryption of backups with enhanced "four-eyes" backup protection and immutable backup features.
Introducing the New Veeam Cyber Secure Program
Going beyond its innovative platform update, Veeam also revealed its upcoming cybersecurity initiative: the New Veeam Cyber Secure Program. This program, set to launch in early 2024, aims to assist clients in protecting and recovering from ransomware, with offerings that include incident recovery services, advanced onboarding, design and implementation assistance, and quarterly health checks.
The Veeam Cyber Secure Program will provide clients with the assurance of:
Expertise and Guidance: Assistance from dedicated support account managers and a ransomware response team with 30-minute service level agreements (SLAs).
Veeam Ransomware Recovery Warranty: Coverage of up to $5 million USD in data recovery expense reimbursement.
New Releases and Future Developments
CTO Danny Allan, during the VeeamON Resiliency Summit, shed some light on the imminent product releases for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, alongside the much-anticipated Kasten K10 6.5 launch. In fact, Veeam has recently rolled out Backup as a Service (BaaS) for Microsoft 365 and Azure, with plans for a new update to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 in the pipeline for early 2024.
Through these refined security measures and innovative strategies, Veeam fortifies organizations' defenses against hostile cyber landscapes, allowing them not just to withstand such threats but thrive in the face of them.
