The events of last week saw the world asking why Sam Altman was fired, with many backing the former executives of OpenAI who were removed from their posts, but amidst their reinstatement, Elon Musk shared an open letter which he claimed was sent to him.

It was originally posted over at GitHub but was deleted, and it was penned by anonymous authors who claim to be former OpenAI employees and claims of the issues Altman and Brockman had during their time at the company.

These nameless employees claimed that some of their colleagues were either fired, suspended, or put on medical leave when they stood up against the executives, urging the company's board to investigate these events. It also discussed how the company went from a non-profit to a for-profit entity.

Musk's only take on the subject is to investigate it, and he is known for formerly serving as one of its top investors and board members.

While the news from almost two weeks ago rocked the world with OpenAI firing Sam Altman, the CEO is now reinstated as the chief executive of the company amidst massive turmoil. The company's employees and other executives stood up against the board, saying that OpenAI needs Altman.

Moreover, it also saw Greg Brockman, OpenAI's President, leaving his post voluntarily in protest. He was also reinstated by the interim CEO Mira Murati.

Altman's axing saw significant protests, but more importantly, Microsoft's Satya Nadella went on X to offer him an executive position at the software company to start on a new AI department. In less than five days, Altman is back alongside Brockman to lead OpenAI again.

Spotify's Royalty Model Change

There is controversy over Spotify, especially for its decision to change its royalty model, which will start in early 2024, and one of the main issues the world has on it is how smaller artists will receive smaller to no payments for their songs. Spotify said that tracks seeing less than 1,000 streams in the past 12 months will generate no recorded royalties.

However, it is a different story for those who get massive streams and for artists who meet the quota, centering on its $1 billion additional revenue for artists. The company said this will ensure a fair distribution of payments for all uploading their music on the platform.

Nevertheless, Spotify claims that the company will not earn additional money in this new royalty model.
