Apple to Bring Firmware Updates to Sealed iPhone in Boxes with New ‘Pad’ Devices

Get a new iPhone without the need to update in the future.

New technology is always coming from Apple, but its next alleged development centers on a device that will bring a "pad" to deliver a much-needed firmware update for iPhones still sealed in its boxes. Buying a new smartphone would always ask users to perform a software update right out of the box, and this will hinder other activities when it is already downloaded.

Enjoying a device outright would be a blast, and this may seem only possible in a perfect world, with Apple reportedly developing this pad for sealed updates.

Mark Gurman's Power On Newsletter via Bloomberg details a new "pad-like" device that could help the Apple iPhone be updated to the latest firmware or software inside the box. This means that the iPhones would remain unused and its boxes would still be sealed, arriving in a brand new condition to its buyers when purchasing from Apple's retail stores in the future.

The Apple Stores would be equipped with this new technology that would allow firmware updates to be downloaded and installed on the flagship smartphone lineup, centering on a wireless device.

According to Gurman, Apple plans this technology to be available in its retail stores before the year's end, with the devices sold after having this available already updated right out of the box.

With the Apple update pads, it could remotely turn on the iPhone inside boxes, download and install the update, and then power it back down awaiting its new owner. Before this, Apple shipped the iPhones on what software was installed on the device before sealing into its box, and this could mean that it is still on the older versions when it arrives to customers.

Apple's iPhone 15 and Its Immediate Update

The latest iPhone 15 from Apple is one of its most revolutionary tech, but it was also the most controversial upon launch because of the many problems that it faces now, centering on overheating problems. Because of this, Apple was forced to release an update only days after its release, hopefully, to bring a fix to this issue, something which the previous iPhone 14 also faced.

There are already three updates available for the iPhone 15, the first centering on the iOS 17.0.1 for the initial patch of the device, but there was also the iOS 17.0.2 which centers on allowing the data transfer from one phone to the other. Moreover, there is the iOS 17.0.3 which now focuses on fixing the overheating issue that users are complaining about, still unknown if this already ends the problem.

Right out of the box, users expect to transfer their files and experiences, as well as use the device immediately, something which is not yet available from Apple as there is a need to update immediately. However, this reported "pad-like" device, may solve the problem and give users an immediate opportunity to explore their iPhones in the future, should it arrive.
