The public's days of accessing X, formerly known as Twitter, as a free app may be numbered, as a recent claim by its owner, Elon Musk, has unveiled this new plan. However, this is no longer a new thing for the Musk-led X, especially as he aims to change a lot for the social media platform, making it the "Everything App" that will be centered on various experiences.
To date, the only thing that is asked to pay monthly on X is the Premium subscription to get the advanced features that the company and its owner have revealed over the past months.
Elon Musk Wants to Charge Everyone on X
In the recent live stream by Elon Musk, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, OpenAI's Greg Brockman, and Max Tegmark on AI safety, it was revealed that X may soon see it charging everyone on the platform.
According to TechCrunch, Musk said that the company was "moving to a small monthly payment" in using X, a mandatory payment for access to the social media platform.
It was explained to Musk that this move was for the betterment of the app. "It's the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots," he said.
However, Musk did not discuss any information further, especially on how much would this access fee cost for regular users who only want to socialize on the platform, and when it would arrive.

Payments Even for Those Not in Premium
It is important to note that this may mean that it would be a different monthly payment from its X Premium subscription that is already up and running now.
This is different in the sense that the smaller monthly fee would be for access to the platform only and would have none of the premium features available on the regular subscription. This may also mean that X Premium subscribers would no longer pay for this as they already avail of the service.
Elon Musk's Massive Changes on X
The renowned tech mogul and multi-tech CEO, Elon Musk, is best known for his tough love leadership on X because as much as he holds high regard for its users, the advanced features coming are only for those who are willing to pay. Either purchase Twitter's subscription, stay on the free experience and have no verification, or leave the platform are the options on X now.
Many features on the then-Twitter are now hidden behind a paywall, and Musk claimed that this is because of the previous problems of the platform which was near bankruptcy when he first obtained it. The company's recent name change to X also brought different features to its Premium, with the TweetDeck, now known as X Pro, moving under its subscriptions.
Twitter Blue is now X Premium, and as much as many things that changed on the renowned social media, one thing remains, and this is the many features moving to the paid service. However, the future may see X asking everyone to pay a small monthly fee if they want to continue using the platform, as revealed by Musk, or possibly get locked out soon.
