Microsoft has recently been making headlines for the success of its partnership with OpenAI for ChatGPT. The artificial intelligence tool has been added to multiple Microsoft services and recently, Bing Chat was added to Microsoft Launcher.
Microsoft Launcher App Allowed Users to Bring Microsoft Interface Into Android Smartphone Devices
According to the story by ZDNet, Microsoft previously revealed the Launcher application way back in 2017. The tool allowed users to be able to bring the Microsoft interface into Android smartphone devices.
While it launched years ago, the Launcher will finally incorporate generative AI with the help of OpenAI's ChatGPT. Bing made the announcement that the home screen of Microsoft Launcher would get the integrated Bing Chat.
Bing Chat Interface Can be Used on Launcher Making It Convenient for Users
The new tool would be available for Android users and it would mean that users will no longer need the Bing app in order to start conversing with Bing. Instead, users will easily be able to swipe down to access Bing Chat.
Users would easily be able to click on the Bing Icon to start asking questions and writing prompts through the Bing Chat interface. The feature makes it very convenient if users are trying to do an image search.
Microsoft Announced 'Continue on Your Phone' Feature Allowing Users to Continue Their Convo on Desktop
It was also revealed that the feature is especially convenient for users if they want to identify something like a flower they found on the sidewalk. They can search for the flower by uploading a picture to Bing Chat.
It was noted that Microsoft announced a new feature called "Continue on Your Phone" which would allow users to continue their Bing Chat. Users can easily switch from their mobile device to their desktop by scanning a QR code.
Users Can Access QR Codes to Continue Their Conversation from Mobile to the Desktop
In order to access the QR code, all users need to do is press the "Continue on phone" option. This feature can be spotted at the upper-right part of the app seen near the user's last chat response.
The article then notes that after scanning the QR code, users will be able to continue their conversation on the desktop simply continuing the conversation they left off. According to OnMSFT, the integration will result in Microsoft Launcher having three functions.
Bing Chat Integration is the Third Integration Available on the Microsoft Launcher App
The first remains its Personalized Feed, which allows users to access calendar events, notes, to-do lists, and other features for organizing and productivity. The second function is customization since it allows users to create an experience that best suits them.
The last integration is the addition of Bing Chat which wouldn't require users to go to a separate app. It was noted that the feature isn't limited to just Windows users but it can also be utilized by Mac users as well.
The feature is reportedly available on the Bing mobile app as well as Microsoft Edge.
