Phone enthusiasts have eagerly awaited the unveiling of Nothing's Phone 2, a highly anticipated flagship device. Carl Pei, the founder and CEO of Nothing, has employed a strategic marketing approach, leaving consumers intrigued and hungry for details. Finally, the release date has been revealed: July 11, marking a year since the initial launch of Nothing's Phone 1, per Engadget.

Despite the recent teaser campaign featuring the enigmatic message, "Come to the bright side," and a mysterious glowing outline of the signature Glyph LEDs encircled by tentacles, essential information about the Phone 2 remains elusive. Notably, the price of the upcoming sequel, likely targeting the high-end smartphone market, remains undisclosed.

Nothing Phone 2 Features

Sources close to the matter and industry rumors suggest that the Phone 2 will operate on the powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, indicating a more capable, albeit potentially pricier, device. Additionally, an upgraded battery capacity of approximately 4,700mAH is anticipated, surpassing the previous iteration's 4,500mAH.

Pei, a former OnePlus executive, claimed in a recent Forbes interview that the new phone would deliver an 80% performance boost compared to its predecessor. However, skepticism lingers until concrete evidence is presented. Although Pei did not explicitly confirm whether the Phone 2 would retain the distinguishing glyphs, the teaser images suggest their return.

Moreover, the Nothing Phone 2 is expected to boast 4K video at 60ps, not to mention the RAW HDR photos, which say a lot about its revamped camera. In a report by Inverse, the company might have tricks on its sleeves about Nothing Phone 2's OS. The publication says that users will have a "more polished experience" with it.

The Phone 1 was a mid-range Android device featuring specifications that positioned it squarely within the mid-range category alongside phones priced around $500. Initially, it was exclusively available in Europe and Asia but later reached the United States through a beta program.

Speaking of the US, Tech Times reported earlier this year that the upcoming flagship is awaiting its release by late 2023 in the country. To view the livestream for Phone 2, just visit this website to see more details about the event.

Next-Gen Branding For Nothing

Suppose Pei intends to capture the whole picture of attracting more customers in the market. In that case, he may position the new Phone 2 just below the top-tier devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Motorola has pursued a similar approach with the recently announced Razr+ flip phone, which utilizes the Gen 1 chip and offers a comparable price to the Galaxy Z Flip4. Differentiating itself with a prominent front screen, Motorola aims to stand out in this competitive landscape.
