Grammy award-winning singer Taylor Swift is the latest victim of cyber-crime. The 25-year-old pop star's Twitter and Instagram accounts were hacked, and the attackers are claiming they are in possession of Swift's nude photo.
The hackings took place on Tuesday, Jan. 27, when a user with the Twitter handle @Lizzard claimed responsibility for the Twitter hack, threatening to post nude photographs of the singer in exchange for bitcoins.
Swift's Twitter account is the fourth most popular in the world as it has over 51 million followers. The hacker posted the following tweets from the hacked Twitter account:
The singer was alerted of the incident by a friend. Swift acknowledged the Twitter hacking via Tumblr.
"My Twitter got hacked but don't worry, Twitter is deleting the hacker tweets and locking my account until they can figure out how this happened and get me new passwords. Never a dull moment," wrote the singer on Tumblr.
The tweets were deleted within 15 minutes as access to Swift's Twitter account was recovered. The two Twitter accounts have since been suspended.
"Cause the hackers gonna hack, hack, hack, hack, hack...," tweeted Swift.
However, the spate of hackings targeting the pop artiste continued as her Instagram account was also compromised. The hackers posted two pictures on her Instagram account and asked Swift's followers to navigate to two separate user pages and follow these accounts.
With Instagram falling victim to the cyber attackers, a visibly harrowed Swift took to Tumblr to acknowledge the same. "Now Instagram. This is going to be a long day," wrote Swift. Access to her Instagram account has been sorted. With the hackers at bay -- but still threatening to release nude pictures of the singer -- an unperturbed Swift laid to rest the speculations.
Update: The hackers have now allegedly leaked some direct messages or DMs between Taylor Swift and Nick Jonas, according to the Internet Gawker.
