#HappyBirthdayTaylorSwift: Aretha Franklin Serenades Tay, Twitterverse Explodes with Greetings

Taylor Swift surely had a grand time at the luncheon event of Billboard's Women in Music. The first part of the excitement came from Billboard's announcement that the 'Woman of the Year' award goes to the "Blank Space" singer, her second time to be given such recognition. The second part was her birthday announcement wherein she was serenaded by no less than the music legend Aretha Franklin with a birthday song.

When Aretha Franklin was done with her beautiful birthday song rendition, Taylor Swift was presented with a cake with 5 candles to blow. Prior to blowing the candles, the singer exclaimed, "Oh my God I'm so happy!"

The event was hosted by Matt Lauer who was responsible in initiating the mini-birthday celebration.

"Raise your hand in the audience if you've got a birthday tomorrow," asked Lauer. Upon hearing this, Taylor raised her hand up. "Oh! That's me," said the singer.

Hours after the event, Taylor still felt the excitement of experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime moment. She later turned on to Twitter to express how thankful she was on Aretha's rare and surprise birthday present.

"Aretha Franklin just sang 'Happy Birthday' to me and it will take me decades to recover...," tweeted Taylor.

Apart from Aretha, Taylor was also joined on stage with other honorees such as Jessie J, Charli XCX, Iggy Azalea, Hayley Williams, Ariana Grande and Idina Menzel.

Selena Gomez, Taylor's BFF, posted a pic of cool nail art showing the letters 'S' and 'T' as a sign of their friendship. As she was getting herself ready for the party, she tweeted, "I mean it's my bff birthday weekend so...@taylorswift13 #NYC @sabellasnyder for doin me up."

Fans also sent out their birthday greetings to the singer with a tweet.

"The pop Princess....keep on shining our hearts with your awesome music," tweeted Michael AF.

"What a great year you've had with an amazingly successful album #HappyBirthdayTaylorSwift you deserve it all," tweeted James.

"She got the world at her feet's but her head is still on her shoulders! Humble, loving, caring...pure sweetheart," tweeted Calzona Flames.

In celebration of Taylor Swift's 25th birthday, here are some bits of information worth pondering on the singer.

1. Music is in her genes. Her grandmother, Majorie Finlay, was an opera singer and her first ever inspiration. Her other inspirations came from Faith Hill, Shania Twain and Dixie Chicks.

2. If Taylor is not a singer, she would have become a novel writer. At the age of 13, Taylor finished writing a 350-page book. She also wrote a poem in the 4th grade called "Monster in my Closet" which won the national award.

3. In her first musical instrument lesson, she learned how to play three guitar chords from a computer repairman at the age of 12. Now, she plays the ukulele, piano, banjo, guitar and electric guitar.

4. She found a pair of 'ugly and dusty' glasses at the corner of a store, bought it, and began to wear it. She had thought of buying it since no one seemed interested to buy the pair anyway.

5. Taylor is terrified of tattoos.
