Revealing New Plant's Location

Telsa would probably pick the location for its newest addition of manufacturing facility by the end of this year. According to a report from Reuters, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk revealed this when Wall Street Journal's Thorold Barker asked the question during an interview for WSJ CEO Council Summit.

This confirms months of speculation has several locations across the global spar in an attempt to win over the next manufacturing plant of Tesla. Currently, the automaker is operating several production facilities across the world, including Fremont, California, Austin, Texas, Berlin, Germany, and Shanghai, China.

No confirmations yet from the company as to where the next plant could end up. But Tesla is serious about its plan to establish its next plant in a different location outside the United States, as an effort to expand its global output. This includes India and France, which follow the Mexican plant announced by the company and Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador last March.

India Gigafactory or France Gigafactory?

Teslarati reported that among the several countries that are rumored to be Tesla's next location for its new Gigafactory, India might be the chosen one as it has seemed favorable to the company. When Musk was asked if he is interested in India being its next location, the CEO responded, "Absolutely."

However, Musk recently met with France President Emmanuel Macron along with other business chiefs a few weeks ago, in an effort to urge companies to invest in the country. Musk revealed he becomes hopeful with the discussion to make a significant investment in the future.

He was impressed with the government's outlook and how they are welcoming the EV industry. Meeting with the French president comes at perfect timing as Tesla has been wanting to secure a deal for an additional factory outside the United States, especially in Europe.

This meeting comes just days after the announcement of France's first step towards countering US President Joe Biden's Buy American green subsidies package. As per Macron, he would alter existing measures and restrictions as a way to encourage green vehicle purchases to reward companies by the end of the year.

As of the moment, Tesla is already on a good track to achieve its 1.8 million unit production bogey for this year. However, Musk stated that the company has the capacity to produce 2 million units per year. Facilities in Fremont and Shanghai already produce vehicles at max capacity, hence Musk's interest to build a new facility.
