Elon Musk makes a bold prediction for his Optimus (aka Tesla Bot).
He claims that the demand for the humanoid robot could reach over 10,000 billion units. The billionaire shared his remarks at the recent Tesla shareholder meeting. Musk's bold predictions are commonly about his Tesla EV technologies.
During the Tesla annual shareholder meeting, which happened on Tuesday, May 16, the tech executive commended his electric cars. Aside from praising Tesla's EVs, Elon also made a bold prediction about his humanoid machine.
Elon Musk's Optimus Prediction
According to Inc. Magazine's latest report, Elon Musk's Tesla Bot was showcased at the Tesla shareholder meeting.
During the event, major Optimus advances were shown, such as performing manual labor tasks. After the video presentation, Musk talked to his audience and asked them a very interesting question.
"What would be the effective ratio of humanoid robots to humans?" asked the billionaire. Then, he answered his own question, saying that everyone would want one for themselves.
He added that there's also a chance consumers would seek more than one unit of the Optimus.
"Which means the actual demand for something like Optimus, if it really works--which it will--is, I don't know, 10 billion units? ... It might be 20 billion units," claimed Musk.
Aside from this, the tech executive also shared that the majority of the long-term value of Tesla will be Optimus. Elon said that he is confident with his bold predictions for his Tesla bot.
Other Optimus Predictions of Elon
Aside from the demand estimation, Musk also shared another Optimus prediction during the previous Tesla Investor Day 2023.
As per New Atlas, Elon expects Optimus to be a bigger business than Tesla EVs. The billionaire said that the ratio of humanoid robots to humans could exceed 1:1. Musk added that people could soon see a home use for robots and industrial uses for the Tesla Bot.
Of course, Elon agrees that Optimus is still far from its main goal. But he strongly believes that they are getting there.
In other news, MIT engineers decided to create a human-like, reflexive gripper for robots. We also reported about the new NASA robotic snake, which will soon try to find life in space.
