Google DeepMind to Develop the Company’s AI Advancements, New Division to Bring Better Tech?

It is time to shake things up with Google's new division for all AI needs.

A new division has been formed over at the Mountain View internet company today, and this is with its previously acquired UK-based startup, centering on the Google DeepMind to bring AI advancements soon. This latest formation aims to develop better artificial intelligence and everything it encompasses for the company, particularly with existing and upcoming projects.

In the previous iterations of Google's AI, there seems to have been a significant setback for its development, particularly with the search engine chatbot, Bard, as the company went silent after its introduction and beta.

Google DeepMind to Develop the Company's AI Advancements

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced a new development over at the company which formed a new division to focus on its AI advancements to bring better and improved capabilities. This is with the Google DeepMind development, centering on the 2014 acquisition of the company of the UK-based AI startup, DeepMind.

It was almost ten years in the making for Google, and it is now combining its different divisions to bring forth a new age of AI for the internet company moving forward.

As per Pichai, DeepMind co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis will take on the role of Google DeepMind CEO and lead the company to the next generation of AI.

On the other hand, Jeff Dean, will "take on an elevated role as Google's Chief Scientist," and will report directly to Pichai. His role will "help set the future direction of our AI research and head up our most critical and strategic technical projects related to AI, the first of which will be a series of powerful, multimodal AI models."

Google Magi, Bard, GIFI, and MORE to Develop Further?

Hassabis also addressed the folks over at DeepMind for this new direction that is set as part of Google, saying that "Through Google DeepMind, we are bringing together our world-class talent in AI with the computing power, infrastructure and resources to create the next generation of AI breakthroughs and products across Google and Alphabet, and to do this in a bold and responsible way."

Google's Massive Focus on AI Now

The start of 2023 showed the massive advancements of AI as two Big Tech companies went head to head to bring artificial intelligence to web browsers, making it a more accessible feature for users.

Google went ahead with Bard and was followed shortly with the announcement of Microsoft's Bing with ChatGPT.

Bard was one of the leading tech and AI developments before, but the company faced significant challenges in its creations as it gave a wrong answer as shown in its demo. However, Google announced that Bard's flaws were seeing different fixes from its team, one that can answer mathematics and logic questions better with enhanced features.

DeepMind has been with Google since 2014 but was not given this much of a highlight before, with the acquisition having the company's team working under the Mountain View company until now. Almost ten years later, Google DeepMind was formed, and this would center on helping its AI developments progress better with its existing and upcoming projects now.
