As the company faces renewed competition in the market with Mircosoft and OpenAI, Google is racing to develop a new search engine powered by Artificial Intelligence. This effort is part of a project called 'Magi."
AI-Powered Search Engine
A huge impact will occur as the simple white page with the company logo, commonly used in our everyday lives, is about to release an update by incorporating Artificial Intelligence to its offerings.
Google is reportedly developing a new AI-powered search engine as the race among its competitors continues to heat up. Business Insider reported that the company is currently in the middle of creating an AI-powered search engine and updating technology within the existing platform.
This is part of a project called "Magi", with about 160 employees currently working on this effort including designers, engineers, and executives to tweak and test the upgraded versions. This is reportedly planned by the company to announce next month before introducing new features in the fall.

Spokeswoman Lara Levin stated, "Not every brainstorm deck or product idea leads to a launch, but as we've said before, we're excited about bringing new A.I.-powered features to search and will share more details soon."
Google aims to improve its features on this latest offering, including increased personalization and a chatbot that can answer software engineering questions that generates code snippets. It also has the capability to search for music through a conversation.
Other Offerings
Aside from this, Google also works on new additions that are in various stages of development. This includes a Chrome feature called "Searchalong," which would allow a chatbot to scan the user's webpage to offer contextual information.
Meanwhile, Google also works on developing "GIFI" and "Tivoli Tutor" that would allow users to prompt Google Image Search that generates images. It will also allow users to converse with a chatbot to learn a new language.
Engadget reported that the timeline suggests that the project will make an appearance at I/O 2023, and offer Magi's features to one million people in the United States before expanding its availability to an additional 30 million users by the end of 2023.
Google's AI Competitors
As per the obtained internal documents, The New York Times reported that Google has been worried about its several competitors who are announcing partnerships and releasing AI-related offerings.
This includes Samsung, who was allegedly considering replacing Google as its default search engine with Microsoft's Bing. This has been in the market for a long time now, but it became a lot more interesting to companies like Samsung when the company added a new AI technology to its offerings.
OpenAI, who demonstrated a chatbot called ChatGPT, is also working with Microsoft. Two weeks later after the release, Google launched a task force in its search division to start building AI products as they see how the technology became successful.
