Apple to Use Recycled Materials for Batteries, and MORE by 2025, Aligning to its 2030 Carbon-Neutral Goals

Apple promises a more carbon-neutral future with its tech and developments.

Like many companies in the world, Apple is now moving towards the use of recycled materials for its different technologies including its battery production, one which they claim to achieve by 2025. Instead of using brand-new materials for production, the Cupertino giant will substitute them with repurposed ones that still bring the same power to devices.

This is in line with its massive goals by 2030, centering on a carbon-neutral move from the company that is more than its clean-energy-powered Apple Park in California.

Apple's latest press release announces its plans to bring more actions towards its carbon neutral plans, with the proposition to build new batteries using 100 percent recycled cobalt to soon power its tech. It does not stop there, as future Apple-design magnets will also utilize 100 percent recycled rare-earth metals in the future.

The company also plans to change its designs for the Apple-designed circuit board that would use 100 percent recycled tin soldering and gold platings.

Cupertino claimed that in 2022, as much as two-thirds of its aluminum use, three-quarters of rare-earth metals, and 95 percent of all tungsten available in Apple products are from absolutely recycled materials.

The 2030 Carbon Neutral Plan by Apple

"Our ambition to one day use 100 percent recycled and renewable materials in our products works hand in hand with Apple 2030: our goal to achieve carbon neutral products by 2030," said Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives.

According to CNET, Apple is also working to eliminate its plastic use in its packaging by 2025, a goal detailed in its announcement. Cupertino has also been using robots to help extract and recycle these materials to use for production.

Apple's Environment Care

Apart from being one of the most famous names in tech, Apple also prides itself on the many actions towards sustainability which the company has committed to for a long time now. One of the Cupertino giant's most prized environmentally-conscious developments is its move to Apple Park, a solar-powered building that centers on clean energy.

Two years ago, Apple released a report regarding its plans to go carbon-neutral by 2030, detailing the many changes the company aims to make to center on transforming the company's efforts for the environment. Apart from its already existing clean-energy headquarters, Apple is looking to do more for the world by looking for alternative sources and the like.

The use of new recycled materials for Apple's new batteries to power its technology is another step towards the company's long-term goals by the end of this decade. The many plans to opt for clean energy and make use of renewable materials will not affect how Apple delivers its products, to bring more environmentally-friendly releases in the future.
