An update about Apple's carbon neutrality was finally provided.
In 2017, Apple headquarters was moved to Apple Park, a spaceship-like facility that runs on 100% renewable energy.
The Apple Park relies on a massive installation of 17 megawatts of solar panels located on the Apple Park's roof.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Aside from itself, Apple also aims to make its manufacturing partners carbon neutral.
Now, the tech giant manufacturer announced that their use of renewable electricity increased by 30% (more than 13 gigawatts) compared to 2022.
Apple Carbon Neutral Mission Update
According to GSM Arena's latest report, Apple provided updates regarding its carbon-neutral goal.
Here are the following announced by the iPhone maker:
- The Apple supply chain's renewable energy usage has reached 13.7 gigawatts, five times higher since 2019.
- In 2022, Apple's supply chain avoided over 17 million metric tons of carbon emissions.
- Over 250 Apple suppliers committed to 100% renewable energy production by 2030.
"Our new supplier commitments demonstrate the rapid progress we're making toward our 2030 carbon neutrality goal," said Apple Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives Vice President Lisa Jackson.
She added that they are making immediate efforts on a global scale to make their supply chain more eco-friendly, innovative, and resilient.
A Word from Apple CEO Tim Cook
