Steam Deck Gets Price Discount for the First Time — Up to 10% Off?

You may now get your hands on Valve's Steam Deck for a much more affordable price.

Steam Deck is getting its first-ever price discount since Valve launched the handheld gaming PC early last year.

For the past 12 months, the gaming firm never offered a sale campaign for the Steam Deck. Instead, it maintained its retail price since it debuted before February ended in 2022.

But this time, the handheld console is celebrating its first anniversary with a massive price cut for the next few days. So if you have been eyeing to buy it, this might be the chance to cop it, thanks to its rare discount.

Steam Deck Price Discount

As per a recent report by XDA Developers, all the variants of the Steam Deck are now available for sale with up to a 10% discount. The more expensive option sees the most significant price cut in the lineup.

While the Steam Spring Sale provides bargain game offerings, it also includes the Valve handheld console, making it more affordable than ever.

It is worth noting that the first-ever price discount on the handheld gaming console only lasts for a limited time. The promo is now up for grabs, but come March 23, it should return to its regular price.

It remains to be seen if Valve will continue giving massive discounts on the Steam Deck now that it has begun slashing its price tag.

How Much Are the Sale Prices?

To cut to the chase, here are the discount prices of each Steam Deck variant.

The cheapest option comes with up to 64GB of internal storage, the entry-level variant, selling for only $359.10. It typically retails for nearly $400, according to Game Spot. But buyers can save a couple of dollars immediately thanks to the rare discount.

On the other hand, the next option jumps to 256GB of storage, which could store more games as most titles eat up a lot of space. This version now only costs $476.10, down from its regular $529 price tag.

If you want to maximize your money, the high-end option is for you - with up to 512GB of storage. However, the top-of-the-line variant is a bit more expensive, with a typical price of $649. Yet, due to the Steam Spring Sale, it now retails for only $584.10.

Is Valve Working on the Steam Deck 2?

ComicBook.com reports that Valve designer, Lawrence Yang, disclosed that they are closely looking into what they could improve for the next-generation Steam Deck.

However, he notes that the console still has a few more years. Yang says, "a true next-gen Deck with a significant bump in horsepower wouldn't be for a few years."

Steam Deck now supports game transfers to PCs, allowing players to switch from their handheld gaming devices to their desktops or laptops seamlessly.
