Google Play Games for PC is set to expand to more territories, such as more countries in Europe and Japan.
The search giant announced during the Games Developer Summit 2023 that Google Play Games on PC is coming to more countries in the next few months.
Besides the upcoming expansion, the tech giant confirms some improvements are on their way to the gaming service.
Google Play Games for PC is Expanding to Europe and Japan
As per a recent report by Android Central, Google Play Games for PC lets its users play mobile gaming titles for Android phones on their Microsoft Windows desktops or laptops.
Essentially, It allows players to continue playing their favorite Android games even while they are on PC. It works similarly to how Apple devices work, wherein iPhone users may continue playing games where they left off from their iPhones to their iPads or Macs.
Tech Crunch reports that Google Play Games began its beta testing phase last January 2022, allowing select PC users to play Android gaming titles.
Initially, though, the gaming service was only available in a few countries, including South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. But later on, it expanded to more territories, such as the United States.
And this time, Google has confirmed that Play Games for PC is now on its way to more countries in the next few months, specifically in Japan and other European destinations.
What's Coming to Play Games for PC
On top of its expansion to new territories, Google Play Games on PC is also expanding its features, mainly for game developers.
Google is now working hand in hand with Intel to help game developers bring their gaming titles to Play Games on PC using their existing builds. With that, they no longer have to work from scratch, making the process a whole lot smoother.
Where is Google Play Games PC Available?
As of writing, Google Play Games on PC is available in a total of 13 countries, including the US, Australia, and South Korea. Folks in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines may now try it out as well. Not to mention that it is also up for grabs in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, and Canada.
Although the gaming service is now available in these territories, some might still miss it depending on their PC specifications.
The beta version currently requires at least a Windows 10 PC with up to 10 gigabytes (GB) of SSD and an Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU. An 8 GB RAM and 4 CPU cores are also needed.
