Elon Musk claims Bing with ChatGPT AI Chatbot Gave Wrong Answers on Hypothetical ‘Spaceflight’

The world's top billionaire is getting all technical against Bing.

The leader and co-founder of SpaceX and famed tech CEO Elon Musk said that an answer by Microsoft Bing with ChatGPT's AI chatbot features gave the wrong answers to a specific query. This centers on a hypothetical spaceflight that a user asked from the AI chatbot, particularly on landing a re-entering spacecraft on Earth.

Microsoft's Bing proved to be helpful every step of the way, and most importantly, talks like your average joe in answering the questions inputted by the user, with only one issue from the tech CEO.

The famous world billionaire and tech mogul, Elon Musk, claimed via his recent tweet that Microsoft Bing's answer to a hypothetical spaceflight is wrong.

The SpaceX chief nitpicked on Bing's conversation with a user, asking about the control module's fuel and spacecraft's re-entry to the planet.

Musk claimed that all fuel on the control module is "hypergolic," and dumping it would "prevent de-orbit burn and atmospheric entry control."

It centered on a Wharton professor, Ethan Mollick, who recently had a conversation with Microsoft's Bing with ChatGPT via its AI chatbot features where a supposed spacecraft pilot wanting to land back on the planet sought help from Bing.

Microsoft's Bing proved to be helpful and gave all the answers to the pilot for his problem and lack of knowledge in returning, especially in a complicated process of dumping fuel on its control module.

Microsoft Bing with ChatGPT's AI Chatbot

For those who are asking questions from a field that they are not familiar with, there may be cases where they will get misleading answers from AI chatbots, and this is what Musk exposed in his recent tweet.

There are many claims regarding wrong answers from AI chatbots like Bing and other systems in place, which may be dangerous, especially for those seeking help.

Bing with ChatGPT on Beta

Microsoft's famous chatbot and search engine powered by ChatGPT is currently in a beta testing phase for limited users only, available to those who joined the waitlist.

However, there are certain concerns regarding the AI-powered chatbots in existence, both Bing and Bard, as these systems may be "hallucinating" by giving a "convincing, but completely made-up answer" says Google's search head.

The Redmond-based software company previously limited the answers people get from Bing with ChatGPT to five replies per session because the system gets "weird" some time after a long talk.

This feature was later restored to give more answers to the public after Microsoft fixed the said issues present on their AI chatbot.

Artificial intelligence is at a high in the current technology interface and experiences as many companies integrate this feature into their systems to give the public assistive and machine-learning tech. Despite the growing presence and claims of these companies, there are still flaws with the likes of Elon Musk spotting these on the chatbot's answer regarding spaceflights.
