Microsoft Bing AI Chatbot to Restore Longer Chats

As per a report by Engadget, Microsoft recently limited its Bing AI chats to address its strange and alarming responses.

But this time, the Remond-based tech firm confirmed that it will gradually restore the longer chats on its AI chatbot.

It is worth noting that Microsoft limited its Bing chatbot to only five questions per session, alongside the 50 chats a day limit last Friday, February 17.

The Verge notes in its story that the tech juggernaut introduced this new set of rules shortly after multiple reports pointed out to strange behavior of the chatbot.

It comes as the giant firm blamed the longer chat sessions, saying that these extended conversations make its Bing AI chatbot "become repetitive or be prompted/provoked to give responses that are not necessarily helpful."

As the tech giant seeks to restore longer chats. It has begun doing so by allowing up to six turns per session, a slight adjustment from five chats. And per day, users can now take 60 chats -- a small jump from the 50 daily limit.

The Bing team disclosed that "since placing the chat limits, we have received feedback from many of you wanting a return of longer chats." Its restoration should allow users to "search more effectively and interact with the chat feature better."

In the long run, Bing seeks to restore up to 100 chats per day.

Furthermore, the team behind the Bing AI chatbot says long chat sessions do not typically occur during internal testing.

Given that, they have opened it to a limited set of preview testers. It should "find these atypical use cases which we can learn and improve the product."

New Bing AI Chatbot Tones

As Microsoft gradually restore longer chat on its Bing AI chatbot, it also went on to introduce new tone options.

Some users might find the answers to the AI chat to be a bit long. With that, a new option provides a more straightforward response that cuts to the chase, aptly named the "Precise" tone." The Verge notes that it blurts out more focused answers.

Apart from the Precise tone, AI chatbot users could also opt for a longer option, known as "Creative." And if you want to mix both, the "Balanced" option might be best for you.
