‘Street Fighter: Duel’: New RPG from CAPCOM and Crunchyroll Up for Pre-Registration—What’s New?

CAPCOM tapped Crunchyroll to deliver a new mobile game that is now available for pre-registration, and it is a new RPG experience called "Street Fighter: Duel."

This new game under the famous Japanese game franchise will not follow what its predecessors brought before, as it would be an RPG title instead of the usual arcade fighting game.

This is the latest title under the "Street Fighter" franchise that would feature the likes of the game's most iconic characters including Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Guile, Blanka, Cammy, and more.

Ready your gloves and gis, as "Street Fighter: Duel" is coming to the mobile platforms, iOS and Android, soon. According to a press release (via Business Newswire), CAPCOM and Crunchyroll announced their latest partnership in this game, one that would put the franchise in a different experience compared to past releases.

It would center on a role-playing game (RPG), which would put players in a first-hand experience of becoming a Street Fighter with iconic characters. Gamers will be able to level up their character and build their team of three, following either its storyline or online battles with other players.

At launch, the game would feature four characters including Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Blanka. A PLUS Japan, co-developers of the game, said that there would be a total of 40 characters coming later on.

"Street Fighter: Duel" will deliver a 2D animated brawl like its past games for a real-time RPG or automated battles with one's team. Its storyline would include battling against the villain, Seth, and the Shadaloo's army of mech clones.

How to Pre-Register on 'Street Fighter: Duel'

Gamers may pre-register for the game via its main website or Crunchyroll, to redirect them to the "Street Fighter: Duel's" App Store or Play Store page.

It is currently limited to selected regions, and it includes the United States and Canada for its initial availability soon.

The 'Street Fighter' Franchise

The last "SF" game from CAPCOM that centered on its main game, "Street Fighter V," was released in February 2016, and this left fans wanting more, particularly for a sequel game from the company. The game evolved from its initial two-dimensional arcade experience to a 3D game but still captures the same arcade setup.

Despite the game's same dynamics, fans and gamers who avidly follow the series have been badgering CAPCOM for a sequel game.

Back in early 2022, CAPCOM answered this request by teasing the upcoming game entitled "Street Fighter 6," but instead of following its iconic logo design, it went to a more subtle route which gamers did not appreciate.

This is still a massive indication that the next game is under development and releasing soon to the world, delivering the continuation of its storyline for individual characters and its plot.

However, before that arrives, fans are met with a surprise announcement from CAPCOM and Crunchyroll for a new mobile RPG, a first with "Street Fighter: Duel."
