"Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter" is a game that many arcade fighting games would see. Here, the skills and capabilities that always get a comparison from the different titles would finally see who is more superior. There are many questions as to the powerful fighters of the different games would win when pitted against each other, and its creator teases the idea behind it.
'Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter' Is a Game that Could Have Been
"Mortal Kombat" and, "Injustice," creator Ed Boon from NetherRealm Studios said online that there would have been a crossover of two massive games in the arena fighting arcade. It is with the "Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter" title that was pitched by the game creators to CAPCOM, something that could have had potential in its release.
Sadly, Boon said that this did not make it to production and release, as it is a part of the drawing board and pitches only, with the idea being one of the possible things to happen between the two companies. According to Comic Book Gaming, the deal was once on the table, and there was once a possibility of it happening, but it did not turn out the way they envisioned it.
'Mortal Kombat' Creator Teases 'MKvSF' but Is It Coming?
Boon said many stories about how the gaming studio "tried to make it happen" about the "MKvsSF" game that the company wanted to co-develop with CAPCOM. However, it did not push through as revealed by the creator.
In the tweet, Boon also said that it might happen "perhaps for another day" but did not reveal when or if it would push through in the coming years.
For now, fans would have to take this with caution, as it is only a revelation of the supposed deal and not a confirmation of a new game.
'Mortal Kombat' and 'Street Fighter' Franchises
"Midway made Mortal Kombat's" first game in 1992, and since then, the game has been a famous title among the many games present in the early 90s that focus on the arcade fighting genre. It became famous for its brutal and violent Fatalities that succeeding games still see, with many characters on the list even in the present.
Another famous franchise name in the arcade fighting experience is CAPCOM's "Street Fighter," which will see a continuation of its game for this year, continuing the story that the game built over the past years. It still centers on Ryu, the main character and hero of the series for the past games, which will also highly revolve around him in "Street Fighter VI."
A fusion of these games would have been a massive venture or a flop among the franchise's fans, which means that the studios may have been playing safe to avoid any disputes on their end. Nevertheless, it would have been a great idea to crossover some of the characters to hash it out in the arena, with CAPCOM is known for its take on this with the "Marvel vs. Capcom" series.
