'Assassin's Creed Mirage' to Focus on Character-Driven Stories, Ubisoft Says: What to Expect

It's going to be shorter but better.

"Assassin's Creed" is one of the most successful franchises in the history of video games. Each year, Ubisoft releases a new version of this game for fans who love endless adventure and swashbuckling experiences.

The past installments such as "Valhalla," "Origins," and "Odyssey" are known to have a very lengthy walkthrough. Before you finish the main story, you will get bombarded with tons of side quests that you can do depending on your liking.

According to the game publisher, the upcoming "Assassin's Creed Mirage" will stick to character-driven narratives and be shorter than the abovementioned editions.

Fans have been thinking if Ubisoft can create a short yet rich story for the "Assassin's Creed" game in the next few years.

Indeed, this game is not for everyone, especially those bored of grinding. If you are not too patient to finish this game, then this might not be the best game for you right now.

GamesRadar reports that Stephane Boudon, the creative director behind the upcoming game, confirms that "Mirage" will be made up of several inputs from fans.

For this edition, the developer will prioritize the requests of the long-time players who have been playing the game over the past years.

While "Valhalla" and "Origins" are just examples of "great games" with impressive playtime, some players think that they could still experience the same feeling even inside a smaller world.

To make things better, some fans urge Ubisoft to focus more on a "character-driven story" to achieve a "more intimate scale" for the game.

"It resonates with us as well, as developers, and this was the starting point of the project," Boudon said.

The role-playing games might be fun to play, but that does not mean that everyone is quite satisfied with completing the missions in the game. Actually, spin-offs are great if they stick to well-written narratives instead of throwing random quests that everyone won't enjoy.

'Mirage' to Stick With the Original Protagonist

To bring a more traditional touch to "Assassin's Creed Mirage," Ubisoft decided to stick to the original game protagonist Altair to be the main character of the upcoming title.

According to a report by Kotaku, the OG edition will be the main theme of the newest game. Particularly, it will be set in the 13th-century Middle East, where assassins freely roam the land in search of rewards.

If this trend goes well for most fans, Ubisoft might use this pattern for the next "Assassin's Creed" installments after "Mirage."

We have seen a promising beauty in open-world games, so why not test the waters with this short yet enjoyable version of the game this time?
