Volkner's Performance S is the Most Luxurious RV in 2022 - How Much Does it Cost?

With an astounding price tag of $2.1 million, the 39-foot (12-m) Performance S RV from German luxury RV manufacturer Volkner is by far the world's most luxurious RV in 2022.

This expensive RV comes with an L-shaped kitchen, solar arrays, a wine locker, a bathroom, a master suite with a bed measuring 71 to 79 inches (180 x 200 cm), and a luxurious Burmester sound system worth $355,000.

Why Performance S is Expensive

Volkner debuted the Performance S at the 2022 Düsseldorf Caravan Salon earlier this year, where its orange and black colors and striking pure-white LaFerrari protruding from its gut caught the eye of many visitors.

According to New Atlas, customers had to fork over €2 million (around US$2.1 million) for the Performance S. The price is more than doubled to almost €5.3 million (US$5.7 million) if the cost of the LaFerrari is included.

The LaFerrari is around €3 million more expensive than the Bugatti Chiron from the previous year. The $2 million price difference is primarily driven by the motorhome's specifications and the current currency rate.

Additionally, the Performance S has no shortage of the finer things in life. It exhibits distinctive features, beginning with its 135-sq-ft (12.5-sq-m) rooftop terrace, which is inconvenient to access via a ladder in the bathroom shower. For stargazing, observation, and other outdoor relaxation, there are six to eight seats on the RV's deck.

The 2,000-W solar panel array, 4G antenna, satellite dish, and other useful equipment are installed on the remaining portion of the roof. Separate large and tiny air conditioners are used to chill the front living area and the back bedroom as well.

Custom Sound System

The customer designs their own custom sound system with speakers everywhere the RV, including 5.1 surround sound in the living area, in place of Volkner's typical Burmester audio system, as noted by Interesting Engineering.

The picture and audio are provided via LED smart TVs in the living area and bedroom. These electronics AND other equipment in the RV are powered by a 20-kWh lithium battery bank that is charged by a solar array.

The front living area's usage of a daybed rather than a typical sofa is also distinctive. For better spacing, this bed takes advantage of the driver-side wall slide-out.

The rear bedroom has the main bed, which measures 71 by 79 inches (180 by 200 cm). The large cushioned headrest on the bed, which takes the place of the window that would normally be there, suggests that the buyer who commissioned this particular construction spends a lot of time sitting up on the bed.

This Performance S, which is constructed on a Volvo bus chassis, includes an air suspension system and a 503-hp rear engine. Its total price, including taxes, was €5,311,000, making it the most expensive RV and motorhome at the 2022 Caravan Salon.
