Google Contacts for Android has something new for its users as it gains a new "Highlights" tab.
But what does this new tab offer Android phone users?
Google Contacts for Android Users Gains a New 'Highlights' Tab
As per the latest news story by 9to5 Google, the renowned search giant has updated the Google Contacts app, rolling out a new "Highlights" tab.
Google is slowly dishing out changes to the built-in Contacts app for Android users. One of the most notable updates is the fresh look of its icon.
So if you frequently check out your contacts, you might have noticed something has changed. It turns out that Google actually rolled out a new Contacts icon.
The Google Play listing of the Contacts app says that the new look "better reflects today's modern experience." After all, it now rocks the Material You design.
And this time, the built-in Android app, which houses users' contacts, gains an all-new tab. And as such, apart from the usual options, it now sports a new "Highlights" section.
9to5 Google notes in its report that the new tab is sandwiched between the "Contacts" tab and the "Fix & manage" option.
The tabs sit below the built-in Android app, allowing users to navigate a list of their contacts or check out the "Fix & manage" option. In addition to that, they can now also access the new "Highlights" section.
Given that, the updated Google Contacts now features three tabs below. So the new version has a lot more going on than its previous design.
New 'Highlights' Tab: Here's What it Offers
The new Highlights tab houses the "Recent" and "Favorites" sections.
Users could pick their go-to contacts as their "favorites," which shows on top of the "Highlights" tab. On top of that, their "Recents" are available below their "favs."
There are two options in this section, "Viewed recently" and "Added recently."
The latter should now give Android phone users a handy option to check out the new contacts that they have saved. They would no longer have to check their contacts list to look for them.
9to5 Google highlights that the "Added recently" option is perhaps one of the most notable additions in the updated version of the built-in Android app.
Besides the Recents and Favorites options, the Highlights tab flaunts a "Search contacts" feature on top.
So if you are looking for a contact who is not seen in the two sections, the search option might be a handy function.
With that, the new Highlights feature brings the Contacts app to the next level. Instead of the classical design, which sports a long list of contacts, it now has a smarter approach.
