Xbox Game Pass ad-supported tier might be in the works, a new Microsoft survey to its gamers highly hints.
The survey is now asking for the two cents of Xbox gamers about a cheaper ad-supported tier, giving away potential details even before it becomes official.
It comes with a really affordable monthly fee. But, of course, the catch is that users will have to watch some ads.
Xbox Game Pass Ad-Supported Tier Might Launch Soon
Microsoft seems to be considering dipping its toes into an ad-supported plan for the Xbox Game Pass, as per the latest report by Games Radar.
It is worth noting that ad-supported tiers are now a thing for video streaming giants like Netflix and Disney Plus. It allows these services to offer a cheaper plan, giving subscribers a choice to avail of them without going broke. The more affordable offering should ideally help these platforms gain more subscribers or at least retain their customers.
And now, the gaming subscription service of Microsoft, the Xbox Game Pass, could potentially follow the route that Disney and Netflix took.
The ad-supported tier of Game Pass reportedly appeared in a recent Microsoft survey. It asks players to share their take on a cheaper tier that comes with ads.
The questionnaire offers a hypothetical subscription plan, which highly suggests what Microsoft has in mind for its potential new cheaper service.
However, do note that the details could highly likely change once it rolls out -- if ever it will. The results of the survey potentially shape this new ad-supported option, bringing user-friendly changes.
New Microsoft Survey Hints What Game Pass with Ads Could Be Like
According to a recent news story by VG247, the Microsoft Spanish survey is asking for the two cents of its player regarding a potentially cheaper Game Pass tier.
The hypothetical ad-supported tier of the Xbox service offers a dirt-cheap monthly price of $3.
Obviously, it comes with ads. Games Radar notes in its report that the promotional content could likely show up before games could start playing.
But on top of that, the cheaper plan comes with a huge potential drawback. Its subscribers could only get their hands on first-party games six months after their release.
However, VG247 further highlights that the survey suggests that the tier still brings online multiplayer. And given that, you can still play the hit shooter titles of the "Call of Duty" franchise - albeit with the cheaper price and the annoying ads.
Again, all of these details only came from a survey. So do take it with a grain of salt.
