Integrating a Switch controller into an Apple device is a great feat that every Nintendo fan wants to happen. Connecting the gamepad such as the Super Nintendo Controller on your iPhone does make sense, especially for those who want to play SNES and other classic games on smartphones.

According to IGN, Apple has not officially mentioned that the iOS 16.1 support will arrive on Nintendo Classic game controllers. It was not included in the latest release notes of the company.

However, Steve Troughton-Smith, an Irish content creator on Twitter surprisingly discovered that the iOS 16.1 update worked with the Super Nintendo Controller.

Even before Mac Stories reported about the Nintendo 64 controller support, Steve first found out that the SNES controller could be paired with the iOS/tvOS 16.1 update.

Since the SNES controller is fully functional with the new software support, he assumed that the update would also work with NES and Genesis classic controllers.

It should be noted that the support will also operate with tvOS, macOS 13, and later versions. To pair your Nintendo Switch Online classic controller, all you have to do is to connect it to the Bluetooth settings.

iOS Update For Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Pro Controllers

Previously, Apple launched an iOS update for the dedicated controllers on Switch. The Cupertino giant officially added support for the Pro and Joy-Con controllers back in June.

The following month, Steam confirmed that revamped Switch controller support for SEGA Genesis, N64, NES, and SNES controllers.

Will Apple Bring Emulators to the App Store Soon?

Since Apple has allowed the integration of iOS to the Switch controllers, maybe it's now the time for the company to explore the gaming industry.

With the newest iOS 16.1 support, some fans think that Apple will soon allow emulators to pool on the App Store. Others believe that the company will soon allow sideloading of the apps which we currently see on the Android platform.

Speaking of the Switch Pro controller, one user said that the TV 4K support is already working with the gaming accessory.

If there's one thing that Nintendo fans want for iOS, it would be the virtual console games on the Apple platform.

If the iPhone maker will allow this to happen, Nintendo will surely benefit from it. Of course, it comes with a price since we know that Apple used to impose high fees for the developers on the App Store.
