[BREAKING] WhatsApp Down: Thousands of Users Report Issues in Sending and Receiving Messages

Over 6,000 users have reported an outage in WhatsApp, according to Downdetector.

Are you having problems sending and receiving messages in WhatsApp? Well, worry not because the problem is not you but the app itself.

Numerous users report problems with the app's text-sending and receiving capabilities, suggesting that WhatsApp may be experiencing a bug. The number of people reporting the outage of WhatsApp has sharply increased, according to Downdetector, a website that measures online outages throughout the world.

Thousands of users have also taken to Twitter to confirm that there is indeed an outage in the cross-messaging app.

Over 6,000 Outage Reports

According to Downdetector, there has been a massive surge in user complaints, with more than 6,000 reports posted online. The non-delivery of their messages is causing users to complain. The app doesn't indicate that the messages have been delivered, even when they have already been sent.

"At 10:59, read receipt (blue tick) stopped. At 11:01, delivery receipt stopped. At 11:22, message delivery stopped. What is going on with WhatsApp? ," a user said in a tweet on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

"When I put all my effort into my phone ( restart, airplane mode, and internet on & off bla bla...) and found that my phone is working correctly but WhatsApp is not," tweeted another user.

In response to the WhatsApp downtime, a representative from Meta told Business Today that they are "aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we're working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible."

Users also reported facing issues with the messenger app's calling feature. According to their complaints, the "calling" part of the app is not letting users go to the ringing phase.

Far Greater

However, given the manner in which Downdetector gathers data, the number of users having problems may actually be far greater, as noted by Sky News.

More than 11,000 users in India and 19,000 users in Singapore also reported having problems, according to the website.

Users have discovered that although they can launch the app and browse their conversations, no new messages are being delivered or sent on their end.

Many users notice a constant message at the program's top that claims the app is "connecting" to the server but then seems to fail to do so.

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app for various such as iPhone, Android devices, Windows Mobile, or Blackberry. The app is regarded as a replacement for text messaging or SMS because it enables users to send and receive messages, photographs, and other types of information.
