The WhatsApp v 2.22.23.12 update beta program has launched with a new feature, polls. The feature allows users to create up to 12 poll questions from which group chat participants or private chat members can choose.
The New WhatsApp Firmware Version 2.22.23.12 is Now Live
According to the story by Giz China, the WhatsApp firmware version 2.22.23.12 is live through the Google Play Beta Program. The app added a new feature that allows users to create polls for group chats and private conversations.
The much earlier WhatsApp 2.22.21.16 beta update gave poll creation support in WhatsApp groups. The update introduces new functionalities and interaction options for users of the polls feature.
Users can Get the Update Through the Google Play Beta Program
WABetaInfo announced that certain users could not get the feature in the 2.22.23.12 update. This meant that despite updating their WhatsApp version to the latest beta update, they could still not create polls in private conversations and only in groups.
Users had to download the update through the Google Play Beta Program to get the new beta version of the article. This would allow them to create polls for single private chats and not just for groups.
New Feature Lets Users Choose from Up to 12 Options on Polls for Private Chats
With the updated beta version, it will be possible for users to create polls in private conversations using the same interface. The article noted that at first, they did not know why WhatsApp would allow them to create polls in individual chats but later on, they found the new feature entertaining.
Giz China noted that the feature could be fun for users to ask something with different options available. Just like with the polls feature for groups, users will still be able to create 12 options wherein users can automatically vote.
The article notes that WhatsApp will update itself whenever the polls receive a vote so users can see the results in real time. The polls are said to be encrypted.
Meta Species that No Third-Party Can View the Results of the Polls
So far, Meta and WhatsApp have made an effort to specify that there will be no outsiders to the conversation who can access the polls feature. So far, only a select group of WhatsApp beta users who have updated their app to the most recent version on the Google Play Beta Program can use it freely in private conversations.
Users who don't want to update their WhatsApp version to the beta update will have to wait until the update becomes stable before the feature becomes available. Giz Modo said that they anticipate that the feature will become available for a wider range of people in the next few days.
