The online platform recently confirmed that it plans to make view counts public by default.

This plan of Twitter was revealed back on Sept. 30.

To test this platform improvement, the social media firm decided to allow a few selected users to try the feature.

However, it seems like many Twitter users are concerned regarding the platform's plan.

Twitter View Counts, Engagement to Become Public?

According to MakeUseOf's latest report, some Twitter users feel anxious regarding the social media's plan to make view counts and engagements public.

This is because concerned Twitter consumers feel like they are being exposed to the public too much.

For example, if they see that the view counts are more than the total number of their followers, they may think that other Twitter users are stalking them.

On the other hand, if some users see that their view counts are very low, they may feel a bit ashamed, especially if they are trying to grow their account to become a Twitter influencer.

Aside from these, low engagements, such as comments and likes, could also discourage new Twitter influencers.

But, if they saw that their view counts were high, it could boost their confidence.

Why Does Twitter Want to Make it Public?

Social Media Today recently reported that Twitter has more than 230 daily active users. This is quite low compared to Facebook and Snapchat.

Because of this, Twitter wants to allow people how influential and widespread the platform really is by allowing them to see their view counts and total engagements.

Experts stated that if Twitter can show more accurate public analytics data, there's a high chance that high-profile brands will consider using the platform.

In other stories, Twitter screenshots can now be viewed by users.

Meanwhile, the Twitter Birdwatch program showed that COVID-19 misinformation is still the platform's biggest issue.
