The arrival of the Meta Quest Pro is plagued with rumors even before Mark Zuckerberg announced its launch. Previously, some leaks concluded that its controller could only last for a few hours of usage.
However, a company representative told Upload VR that it was not true. He touts that the VR wearable accessory is expected to last for up to 8 hours as opposed to its 2-hour battery life as what the rumors said about it.
Meta Quest Pro Controller Battery Life
The usability of a gadget is often put on trial when its battery life is not impressive. On Reddit and Twitter, several users have questioned how long will the Meta Quest Pro controller last during continuous usage.
At the time, Upload VR reported that the controller supports just wireless charging alone. You can recharge this device through a portable charger. You can also place it on a dock.
Upon learning the rumors, the Meta spokesperson debunked the myths about the battery life of the Quest Pro controller. According to him, it is designed to last for up to 8 hours but still, it would depend on the "usage conditions."
Speaking of these conditions, the controller's battery life might be affected by the apps that are running in the background. Upload VR also mentions in the same article that using haptic feedback will quickly drain its battery.
John Carmack, the current Consulting CTO of Meta said that he tested the controllers to see if they will last long. He added that they managed to last for four hours and he did not see any warnings about the battery.
"I've literally never had them run out and I've used the headset for pretty long periods over the last few months. I would wager 4-5 hours without charge," Andrew Bosworth, another Meta CTO tweeted on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

What's Good With Touch Pro Controllers?
According to Meta, it's very different compared to the Quest 2 controller because it comes with updated VCM haptics. The new accessory features a more localized update than its predecessor.
The Touch Pro controllers are also designed for self-tracking and this is evident with its tri-camera setup. In short, they are suited to track the user's angle in the same direction where the headset faces.
Meta added that the new set of controllers boasts "a wider and more precise range of feedback" which is something that we won't see from the Quest 2 controllers.
The Meta Quest Pro which is powered by the Snapdragon XR2+Gen 1 chipset is expected to be shipped starting Oct. 25. The Quest Pro box will include the Touch Pro controllers.
Meta plans to separately make it available in the next few months for $300. The company said that it will make a great pair with the current Quest 2 VR headset.
