iPadOS 16.1 is Set to Release This Late October — Here’s What to Expect

Is the long wait worth it?

Apple's iPadOS 16.1 is set to release this late October after Apple had to delay it to focus on its all-new iPhone.

So it looks like iPad users will have to wait for a couple of days more before they get their hands on the new major update of iPadOS.

Apple's iPadOS 16.1 to Release This Late October

As per the latest report by 9to5Mac, Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, revealed in his recent tweet that the upcoming iPadOS 16.1 is seeing the light of day by the last week of October.

The online news outlet notes that Apple confirmed last August that it has decided to delay the rollout of iPadOS 16 to October. However, the renowned tech giant did not provide any specific release date.

On the other hand, iOS 16 arrived to iPhone users last September along with the debut of the new iPhone 14 series.

And as such, the first release of the new iPadOS is version 16.1 due to a one-month delay.

But this time, Gurman says that his sources are claiming that Apple is "on track" to start rolling out the upcoming iPadOS 16.1 on October 24.

What to Expect from iPadOS 16.1

Besides the release date of the next iPadOS, the Bloomberg journalist also bared what to expect from the new update. He says that the stable version of the software smashes tons of annoying bugs that the beta counterpart has been notoriously plagued with.

9to5 Mac reports that early users of the iPadOS 16 Beta have complained about its instability issues. But it appears that this new update addresses the problems.

According to Mac Rumors, the upcoming update works with various iPads. It includes the fifth-generation iPad mini and later, the fifth-generation iPad and its newer siblings, and the third-generation iPad Air and its successors. Not to mention that it is also compatible with all iPad Pro releases.

New iPad and MacBook This October?

Gurman furthered that the late October release of iPadOS 16.1 could potentially come along with a new hardware launch.

9to5 Mac says that Apple has been unveiling some of its new products in October in time for its earning calls with investors.

To be more precise, the 2021 MacBook Pro saw the shimmer of the spotlight last October. And none other than the iPhone 12 also had an October launch.
