Amazon Glow, a video calling device that allows kids to interact with family members and friends remotely, is now bidding goodbye to the e-commerce platform.
The Seattle-based corporation has cut ties with the product, which was only released in September 2021. The kid-focused gadget will no longer be available for selling starting this week.
Amazon is No Longer Selling Glow Device
According to an early report by CNBC, Amazon has axed the kid-centered device recently. The US retail powerhouse first showcased it at the hardware event last year.
Amazon Glow is like any other device aimed at kids' use. It's intended for interactive gaming. That's not only that since it can be used for chatting. There are also projected graphics that are very responsive to touch.
Initially, the kid-focused device was exclusively available via invitation. Its price sits at $300.
Although it was launched in September, Amazon only started selling it in March. After more than six months of availability, the company discontinued marketing the product.
CNBC spotted on Tuesday evening that the product page listing for Amazon Glow indicates that it's "currently unavailable." This means that you won't get it anymore from Amazon unless there are third-party sellers who are willing to sell the device.
"At Amazon, we think big, experiment, and invest in new ideas to delight customers. We also continually evaluate the progress and potential of our products to deliver customer value, and we regularly make adjustments based on those assessments. We will be sharing updates and guidance with Glow customers soon," Amazon spokesperson Tim Gillman said.
On the Amazon website, Glow has only more than 500 reviews. The majority of the feedback is all positive about the device. That's why people are confused about the reason why the company suddenly stopped selling it.

Why Did Amazon Discontinue Glow?
According to Engadget, one of the possible reasons why Amazon chose to close out the curtains for the Glow is its low sales of the product.
It's understandable why several tech firms have been struggling since the pandemic. Paired with economic decline around the world, Amazon might be feeling the impact brought by inflation.
Outsides the lackluster sales, Amazon might have decided to call it quits for Glow because of the changes in the child's behavior.
Families were forced to stay inside their homes when the COVID-19 pandemic started two years ago. As a result, the sales of Amazon Glow boomed all of a sudden.
However, with the cases now slowly easing up, the people are now returning to their usual routine. Amazon might have seen a decline in the demand for video calling devices.
This is not the first time the retail giant has discontinued a product this year. Last May, the company stopped selling Cloud Cam and all of the apps related to the smart home camera.
