To entice future consumers from luxury vehicles like Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX, BMW introduced last Tuesday the BMW XM, as reported first by TechCrunch.
During its concept preview last year, BMW M Head of Design Marcus Syring stated that the company wanted to announce something special for the company's 50th anniversary by introducing the XM concept. Now the company unveiled more details.
The vehicle retails for $160,000 with a 644-horsepower crossover, which is technically one of the most expensive among the existing vehicles from BMW. With this price and its ability, it will also be hailed as one of the most powerful SUVs in the company, as per Bloomberg.
This will be the brand's first electrified SUV that offers high performance from the M Line when it goes on sale next year.
BMW XM's Power and Capacity
This vehicle contains a 483-horsepower V8 engine and a 194-horsepower electric motor. This vehicle speeds up from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph.
A preliminary test was done by BMW, and it reveals that its system can travel for over 30 miles if the vehicle has a fully charged battery. The tests that were conducted as standards were needed to obtain from Environmental Protection Agency.
It also offers two rows of seating for passengers with above-average head, elbow, and leg room. This will be BMW's roomiest SUV, as per the report. Although the interior will not be as unique as ever, the design is still unexpected to the brand as it represents a shift from the traditional. As Syring stated, "Good design starts with good proportions."
Aside from this, the vehicle contains 23-inch wheels with 275/35R23 rear ties and features LED lighting on its grilles that will be surrounded by gloss-black trim as per MotorTrend.
Comparison to its Competitors
With Urus's 641-horsepower standard, Bentayga's 443-horsepower standard, and Aston Martin DBX's 542-horsepower standard, the BMW XM will be delivering more as it offers 644-horsepower. Adding to this is that it will cost less than the mentioned vehicles.
Production and Availability of the Vehicle
XM will be produced later this year at BMW's Spartanburg South Carolina Factory. Although it was announced a year earlier, the vehicle will be available in the market in the first quarter of 2023.
This will be M Line's second-ever dedicated car and first in 45 years, as per Road and Track. A Label Red version will also be coming soon that claims to have a 735-horsepower and 735-pound-feet.
Pre-ordering and other details will be up on BMW USA's official website.
