BMW EV Sales in 2023

As per the latest report by Bloomberg, the BMW CFO, Nickolas Peter, disclosed in a recent call with journalists that the automaker expects its EV shipments to blossom in the following year.

The financial officer says that the expected increase in all-electric car sales is about to go as high as a staggering 70%, notes Bloomberg in its report.

According to a news story by Electrek, the giant automaker is facing a somewhat difficult year this year, 2022.

First off, there are a couple of issues within the supply chain. And on top of that, consumers in the United Kingdom and Germany are grappling with highly high energy prices, which, in turn, trickles down to the EV market in the two nations.

On the other hand, Electrek notes in the same report that the demand for these electric cars remains high in other European nations, including Spain and France.

Not to mention the extreme COVID-19 lockdown in various parts of China also affected the German automaker.

But despite what looks like a turbulent year for the German automaker, BMW is now hopeful that all these problems are potentially easing up by next year.

The BMW CFO says that the renowned carmaker is expected to deliver roughly 400,000 EVs in 2023. Peter notes that the massive increase in sales comes as the supply chain mess starts recovering, and the demand for electric cars is potentially stronger than ever.

How About in 2022?

Bloomberg says that the EV deliveries of BMW in 2023 are a cool 70% increase from its expectations for this year.

The financial officer disclosed that the automaker plans to ship between 240,000 and 245,000 electric cars in 2022.

Electrek notes that the target for this year is also a significant increase from last year. In fact, the BMW shipments of all-electric cars are at around 104,000 in 2021.

It is worth mentioning that the German carmaker is targeting to make EVs sales half of its overall shipments come 2030, Electrek adds in its story.

But for now, Bimmer is looking to sell roughly 400,000 EVs in the following year, a massive increase from the 245,000 delivery target this year.
