Xbox Startup Sound: Microsoft Tests Turn Off Option

The news outlet notes that the Xbox console lashes a loud startup sound. In turn, its players are forced to lower its volume every time they boot it up.

If they do not, it creates a really loud sound that would surely let people around them know that they are trying to play some games on Xbox.

Although fancy startup sound effects give personality to various devices like smartphones and gaming consoles, some folks might prefer them to turn on without making some noise.

While others like the Xbox startup sound, it seems to be a bit loud for some gamers.

And as such, it appears that Microsoft has finally realized this. The renowned console maker is now testing an option to turn off the Xbox startup sound in its latest software update.

However, it is worth noting that the new feature is only available to users of the Xbox preview update. It has yet to roll out to all Series X and Series S gaming console owners.

In fact, The Verge notes that the new update exclusively releases to Xbox Insider Alpha ring members. If you are not part of the program, you will have to patiently wait until it is ready for its general release.

How to Mute Xbox Startup Sound

According to release notes of the Xbox Insider - Alpha, the new update adds an option that lets console gamers turn off the startup sounds. It also explained how users could tweak their settings to mute it.

To do so, go straight ahead to the "Settings" menu. Then select the "General" option. And head to the "Volume and audio output" section. From there, "Additional options" let users mute the loud startup sound.

And that's it. Once the startup sound goes into mute, gamers would no longer have to panic as they try to turn down the volume as fast as they could.

However, if you are one of those Xbox folks who love the startup sound of the gaming console, you can still choose to keep it turned on.
