Meta is changing the Threads experience on the web for users to enjoy, and this starts with the arrival of its new domain, Threads.com.

Previously, users on the web had to access the text-based platform by Instagram using "Threads.net," and this has been confusing for many as they were redirected to another website using the domain.

Alongside the new domain, Meta is also giving Threads users new experiences to take advantage of in the platform, with these features promising improved access to social media and more.

Meta Threads Now Uses 'Threads.com' Domain

Meta announced that Threads is now accessible on the web using the "Threads.com" domain name, which simplifies the experience for users whenever they opt for the browser instead of the app.

While .com and .net are not considered top-level domains (TLDs), .com is the more popular one and is most likely what people would include when thinking of a domain name of a website, hence the switch.

According to The Verge, Meta already bought the domain name "Threads.com" in September of last year, but the company did not immediately force users to migrate to the new domain after the purchase.

With this, users may find Threads easier and faster thanks to the .com domain, particularly as the previous owner of "Threads.com" has seen spikes in visit despite people looking for the social network.

New Web Features to Enjoy on Threads

There are also many features that Meta introduced to Threads, particularly for the web experience. First, Custom Feeds will now appear at the top of the web page and is in sync with the ones done on the mobile app.

Moreover, users may easily access saved posts via the main menu, as well as a new Column icon to better customize what is seen on the feed. Users may now copy an image from a Threads post instead of needing to take a screenshot.

There is also a new "+" button so users may continue to scroll the feed while composing a new post.

Meta is also adding a list of people users follow on other apps that also have a Threads account so that they may easily follow them here.

Threads and Its Latest Offers

One of the most important changes on Threads is the Community Notes-like fact checking experience, which lets users contribute to giving context or trustworthy information for users to verify. This is part of the latest direction of Meta, which it also applied to other platforms after it axed its third-party fact checking partner.

Users were also treated to a new dedicated tab for all photos and videos uploaded on the platform with the new "Media" tab, offering a faster way to view or watch content from different accounts.

More creative features were also introduced to Threads over the past months, starting with the new markup tool, which allow users to add their personal twist on images they are reposting online.

Additionally, more personalization options are also available on Meta's text-based platform like the option that shows the "Following" feed, and recently, the ability to filter spam and troll replies.
