There is now a feature that is reportedly under testing from Meta's Instagram, and it centers on a new experience of viewing Reels on the platform. This new feature allows users to lock their Reels so that they may only be viewed by select people.
What this means is that when a user visits someone else's profile, locked Reels will be blurred and must be unlocked first.
In order to do this, a "secret code" will reportedly be needed.
Instagram Is Testing 'Locked' Reels For Its Platform
Instagram's Design account has shared a new feature that the company is reportedly testing now, which has yet to be named by Meta as of press time.
According to TechCrunch, Design tested the feature by coming up with a locked Reel and letting users guess the secret code that comes with it, providing a hint to help out. Design hinted that the secret code is the first "#" in the post's caption, with the hashtag "threads" being the answer.
The hidden content from Instagram's Design account only contains a "Coming Soon" teaser behind it.
It was revealed that the secret code users can set to unlock a Reel can be anything that a creator wants it to be, and this can garner more engagements from their fans who know many facts or trivia about them.
Creators may set a code involving their birthdays, special moments, events, and more, where only their avid fans could guess.
Instagram and its Massive Features
Recently, Instagram announced new DM features that now allow users to share music easily via Instagram Music, as well as a built-in translation tool for chats and the scheduled messages feature.
Additionally, the company also has several features that are under testing, particularly one that offers an experience reminiscent of Reddit and YouTube. Instead of the like, comment, and share buttons, users may soon get a "Dislike" button so that they may let the creators know if they disapprove of their post or the information that it contains.
Instagram also recently introduced the 2x speed feature for Reels, which gives users the ability to speed up the content they are watching.
