Did Xiaomi approve Dynamic Island imitation?

The iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island feature now has an imitator. The so-called Grumpy UI allows you to have similar functionality to the Apple handset's enhancement-on Xiaomi.

For the past few years, Android smartphone developers have been making efforts to remove the notch on their handset displays.

As of writing, consumers are still waiting for notch-less Android models to arrive. Experts said that this could be achieved once the under-display camera tech is perfected.

Meanwhile, Apple already removed its iPhone's notches by integrating the new Dynamic Island into the latest iPhone 14 Pro.

Now, an Android UI (User Interface) has been developed for Xiaomi smartphones that can also offer a similar experience.

According to MacRumors' latest report, the new Grumpy UI was shared by a Twitter user. Vaibhav Jain (@vvaiibhav), a content creator, said this new feature is playing on Xiaomi MIUI as writing.

"Dynamic Island Style Notifications / Now Playing on Xiaomi MIUI. Mi Theme Developers never disappoint," said Jain via his official tweet, which already generated around 1,000 retweets, 600 quote tweets, and 7,000 likes.

As of press time, the new Grumpy UI is still being reviewed by Xiaomi. Recently, the giant Chinese smartphone maker allegedly declined the arrival of the Dynamic Island imitation feature.

The Grumpy UI Android Feature

Based on the actual video provided by the Mi theme developer, the new Grumpy UI feature doesn't really replicate the exact appearance of the Dynamic Island.

This new user interface can only support skinning different UI elements. On the other hand, it also doesn't allows modifying the system's behavior.

You can't download this new Android UI since Xiaomi hasn't approved it yet. But, experts stated that it might be launched in the official MIUI theme store once all the requirements are provided.

Recently, Xiaomi 12 Ultra's design was leaked.

Also, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 was unveiled in Lei Jun's annual speech.
