For the past few years, Twitter has been among the platforms that are open when it comes to NSFW posts. Because of this, the socmed company decided to make efforts to control its adult content by launching an OnlyFans clone.

However, The Verge revealed that Twitter quietly halted its OnlyFans clone project. Now, here's what the latest internal documents of the platform revealed.

Twitter's OnlyFans Clone Plan Halted!

Before Twitter provided the go-signal for its OnlyFans-like service, the social media giant reportedly asked a group of employees to form the so-called "Red Team."

This team's main goal is to test the monetization of adult content creators on the online platform. However, the Red Team's latest internal documents revealed that Twitter is not ready for this kind of thing.

According to Engadget's latest report, Twitter staff confirmed that the social media site is still having a hard time detecting child sexual exploitation, as well as consensual nudity.

Twitter's spokesperson Katie Rosborough said that the Red Team's findings were among the main factors that forced them to stop their work on the new OnlyFans clone.

Because of this, Twitter's leadership team said that they would not be able to launch their adult content service without implementing efficient safety measurements when it comes to NSFW posts.

Twitter Internal Documents' Other Details

The newly leaked Twitter internal investigation files also highlighted the warnings made by the platform's researchers back in February 2021.

They claimed that the online platform's efforts to remove CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) and other harmful posts were not enough.

Among the main issues of Twitter is its method of manually filing CSAM reports to NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children).

Since this is the case, most of the website's reported CSAM cases were being delayed.

In other stories, Twitter merged spam bot and misinformation teams.

On the other hand, Elon Musk claimed that the Twitter Board intentionally did not disclose its complete spam prevalence.
