The Tesla Giga Texas was spotted stacking some structural battery packs. Are these the new 4680 battery cells?
The giant electric car manufacturing plant is still undergoing its General Assembly expansion.
A YouTuber, who focuses on document cars, posted a drone video of the ongoing Giga Texas expansion. Joe Tegtmeyer, a former USAF officer, was able to record the things happening in the ongoing General Assembly enhancement.
"A great day (with a gorgeous sunrise) to fly and see inside the windows of the General Assembly expansion area and new cargo bay construction on the west side of General Assembly," said the YouTuber via his official content.
Tesla Giga Texas Stacking Structural Batteries?
According to Electrek's latest report, the exact model of Tesla structural battery packs found in the automaker's inventory at Gigafactory Texas is still unknown.
Previously, the automaker said it would make structural battery packs that relied on the advanced 4680 power cells.
Tesla said that the 4680 version is expected to bring better performance to its popular Model Ys. However, the EV developer had some difficulties ramping up the new electric cell production.
On the other hand, the automaker is also believed to be receiving limited supplies of the 4680 battery cells from its Fremont factory.
Because of this, many critics said that the structural battery packs at Giga Texas are just power cells with 2270 batteries.
They also speculated that these EV components are just being stacked there because Tesla found some issues in them.

White Tesla Model Ys on Giga Texas?
Aside from mysterious structural battery packs, Teslarati reported that new white Tesla Model Ys were also spotted at the Gigafactory Texas.
This means that the EV manufacturing plant's paint shop is being ramped up as well.
Experts suggested that since white Model Y units are now increasing in numbers, the Giga Texas is already becoming better than the Giga Berlin.
Meanwhile, cheaper Tesla EVs are expected to be launched in Europe soon.
On the other hand, the Tesla Supercharger Canada design team is being ramped up as well.
