Tesla Model S's futuristic steering yoke may now deal with a new problem: poor material quality. Several owners have shared Twitter images that demonstrate how the yoke's covering is eroding and leaving ugly bald areas on the surface.
According to Futurism, the vegan leather that covers the yokes has, in several instances, been breaking apart in chunks, according to the images and testimonials shared on social media by furious Tesla drivers.
Although it's not a serious problem, it's not a good look for a car that costs more than $100,000 when it's brand new.

Tesla S Model Owners Take Complains to Twitter
While it is true that steering wheel coatings deteriorate over time, the main issue is how quickly the Tesla yokes are breaking down. The yoke on a Model S Long Range owned by the Twitter user The Kilowatts has three sizable chunks missing after running for just 24,000 kilometers.
Popular TikTok creator jf.okay also shared images of a Model S Plaid yoke that had only 12,000 miles on it that was rapidly deteriorating.
Meanwhile, Meet Kevin, a popular Twitter user, also posted his encounter and claimed that after just 4,000 miles of driving, his own steering yoke had experienced identical issues.
As reported first by The Drive, the Twitter community has proposed a number of explanations to explain the problem. The owners were instantly demonized by several users, who claimed that their personal vices were to blame for the issues.
A Twitter user looking for a mugshot from an apparent DUI arrest accused @MeetKevin in jest of dumping alcohol inside the vehicle. Posters closely examined photographs and blasted @jf.okay in particular for applying too much pressure with her fingernails on the yoke.
Others falsely claimed that heavy alcohol use could result in the issue because ethanol would leak through the skin.
However, Tesla has not released an official statement yet that would address the complaints of these Tesla S Model owners.
