Apple is now getting rumors regarding its recent trademark filings that aim to secure a name for its soon wearable device, the highly-speculated AR headset of the company. It is either an AR or VR experience, and there is no information on this from the Cupertino company.
Nevertheless, it is now trying to reserve a name for its upcoming technology, heavily focusing on a "Reality" prefix for the devices on its designation.
Apple: Trademark Filings Suggest Securing a Name for AR Headset
Bloomberg reported that Apple already filed trademarks in different countries to secure the name of the AR/VR headset that the company is developing in the present. Apple submitted the filings to countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica, and Uruguay.
The report also suggested that Apple filed this name trademark in the EU.
Tim Cook previously said that Apple is already bordering on the development of its augmented reality ventures, a technology users get to use with iPhones and iPads. Users also see this AR focus during Apple events, focusing on integrating its event themes into an AR feature that users may interact with via Apple devices.
Rumors Claim it Would Have 'Reality' on Name
According to CNET, Bloomberg said that these names have "Reality" as their primary designation, having an additional title like the iPhones and MacBook devices.
Three names already appeared in the trademark filings, including that of"Reality One," "Reality Pro," and "Reality Processor," as the reserved names for the wearable technology. However, having a trademark filing does not necessarily mean that the device is coming for the world, as it could go different ways from this venture.
Apple's AR/VR Headset Venture
There are varying reports about the AR/VR headset or glasses that Apple aims to bring to the public, soon offering a wearable device that expands the experience to the virtual world. Different reports claim that the wearable device is coming in January 2023, supposedly completing its development by early next year.
The 2023 timeline came from Ming-Chi Kuo, a notable Apple analyst with a track record of releasing his claims from the company.
Another report claimed that the Apple headset or glasses is already nearing completion, focusing on its upcoming availability of the wearable device to the public. Still, there are significant lapses on this rumor as Apple did not announce it via the Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC), which took place last June.
There are significant talks regarding the Apple AR/VR headset from different reports, and one of the most notable analysts of Apple, Mark Gurman, spoke of the new name trademarks. Filing these names may be in anticipation of a device still in development and may not necessarily mean that it is already available soon, only reserving its name for its soon venture.
