Engineers working for the two companies explained that the new KubeRay project is among the efforts made by TikTok's owner and Microsoft to enhance the rising AI industry further.

This new artificial intelligence project is expected to help other businesses and companies to run AI-powered applications more efficiently.

ByteDance software engineer Jiaxin Shan and Microsoft principal software engineer Ali Kanso explained that the new KubeRay project could enhance AI apps that are running on multiple computers.

"Jiaxin and I have been working for like a year on an open source project and this is the beauty of a community gathering like this. We're not in the same company, but we meet every week, we collaborate every week," said Kanso.

US-China AI Race

Before the new Microsoft-ByteDance AI project was announced, China and the U.S. had already shown their commitments when it comes to artificial intelligence technologies.

Asia Times previously reported that former Google CEO Eric Schmidt believed that China can't beat the United States, claiming that the Asian country will remain a near-peer competitor.

But, many experts already considered China a full-spectrum peer rival of the U.S., thanks to its advanced commercial and national-security AI applications.

However, what would happen if China and U.S. decided to work together on AI developments? Well, that's something that Microsoft and ByteDance need to show using their new KubeRay AI project.
