After having different applications that clone its feature, Wordle can now be played in The New York Times Crossword app, which is available both for iOS and Android, as reported first by TechCrunch.
The NYT app now contains games such as The Crossword, Spelling Bee, The Mini, and the newly added Wordle. It allows players and subscribers to create an account to track the gameplay for the three gaming variants. In Wordle's case, it will not lose the users' scores and streaks as it saves automatically within the application.
Pricing
The application is free to download for both operating systems, yet gamers will be asked to subscribe after the seven-day trial. For the monthly subscription, it will cost $4.99, and for the annual subscription, it will cost $39.99.
The integration of the two games into one application was not a surprise as The New York Times purchased the puzzle game at an unknown price last February.

The company wrote in a press release that "Wordle, which gives players six tries to guess a five-letter mystery word, will join New York Times Games's portfolio of original, engaging puzzle games that delight and challenge solvers every day."
Board Game Version
Together with this is the announcement last July of the board game version, which will be called 'Wordle: The Party Game.' The NYT collaborated with Hasbro, and this will be available in the market for $19.99.
Business Insider confirmed that it would be very similar to the original game as it requires players to guess the picked five-letter word for six times. However, there will be other players that you need to compete against, and whoever is the fastest to guess the word will win the game.
How Did Wordle Start
Josh Wardle, the creator of the game, created this for his puzzle enthusiast partner as a pastime.
The game was originally hosted on a website where his other creative works are indicated and was shared with the family and close friends. Years later, the application went viral on the internet. This was confirmed by him in an interview with TechCrunch.
From 1,000 players, the site reached up to 2 million in a span of one week. Wardle said in an interview that it was never intended to make a hit game. Since its release, Wordle has been mentioned in over 32 million tweets.
The NYT also added that "10% of active players have played 145 or more games of Wordle,".
