Sonic Origins was released last week and has already gained negative feedback from fans regarding its performance and glitches. One of the main issues is how it doesn't run well on modern hardware and has a lot of bugs.
Simon 'Stealth' Thomley, the Headcannon founder whose team did the Sonic 3 & Knuckles remaster for Sonic Origins, said that Sega's decisions are to blame.
According to Headcannon, much of the issue comes due to the unrealistic release schedule that has put a lot of pressure on the team. In turn, a game that doesn't meet fans' expectations.
Thomley stated there were issues with Sonic 3 & Knuckles when they submitted it to Sega because of the tight development turnaround. However, he also claims that some of the issues with game occurred when Sega integrated it into Sonic Origins. His team asked to make fixes before the game was released but they were unable to because the final builds has already been submitted for review by various platform holders.
Aside from this, Headcannon also asked to delay the release date repeatedly but was only rebuked.
Despite what happened, Headcannon is prepared to offer post-release fixes and updates. The problem now is, according to Thomley, Sega hasn't committed yet and hasn't responded to Thomley's comments.

Sonic Origins
The Sonic Origins contains remastered versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles and Sonic CD. Some of the issues that were spotted here are level-skipping glitches. Although some of the glitches may seem minor for some, but the game has been delivered to a huge fanbase. Therefore, the negative feedback should be expected as these are fans way back when Sonic entered the gaming world.
Will Headcannon Cut Ties with Sega?
With Thomley expressing his anger and frustration over what happened, it got us thinking if he will still be working with Sega. Despite of him going on a social media roll to air out his frustrations, Thomley made it clear enough that they are not cutting ties with Sega.
He said he's "not fighting with Sega, and no, I have not cut off Sega [...] I'm willing to do more work under the right conditions; whether they want to work with me again is an entirely separate matter."
Headcannon is one of the developers of the best Sonic game of recent years, and when fans knew that they were part of the Sonic Origins collection, they had huge expectations.
However, with what happened now, it's understandable why many fans are disappointed and even, Thomley, who had the burden of carrying big expectations from the fanbase, were frustrated and disappointed with how things worked out.
